Changing your choice in the Donor Register

You can always change your choice

Everyone aged 18 and over is in the Donor Register. In it, you indicate what should happen to your organs and tissues after your death. Your choice remains valid until you change it yourself.

Sometimes your life changes. Sometimes you hear something in the news or read a story that makes you think. Perhaps that makes you want to adjust exactly what you donate. An adjustment is always allowed. For example:

• You think differently about organ donation now than you did before. For example, because you have read something about it.
• You have a new partner. But the Donor Register states that your ex-partner is allowed to decide.
• You have an illness or medical situation that makes you think.
• Someone in your circle has received or donated an organ.
• Your religious or personal beliefs have changed.
• You want to make an adjustment to which organs or tissues you want to donate.

How do I change my choice in the Donor Register?

You can change your choice at donorregister.nl. You log in with your DigiD. You can do this 24 hours a day, as often as you like. You can choose from four options:

• Yes, I want to become a donor
• No, I do not want to become a donor
• My partner or family will decide after my death
• I designate one person to decide after my death
